Kotsifali Choria from Karavitakis Vineyards has now proven itself to be one of the most successful wines in its price range. Winemaker Nikos Karavitakis had a clear ambition: to create an exceptional wine in which the indigenous Cretan grape Kotsifali could fully come into its own. With its refinement, layered character, juicy fruit aromas and excellent value for money, he has succeeded beyond expectations.
Experimentation is in Karavitakis' blood. That is why, from this year, the wine Klima has been replaced by the Kotsifali Choria Karavitakis. A new name, inspired by the Burgundian classification of Villages and Cru’s, placing the origin and character of the wine at the centre.
The wine is aged for six months in used oak barrels. This produces a wonderfully approachable red wine in which everything comes together beautifully: lively red fruit, elegant tannins and just the right amount of complexity. A wine with character, without becoming complicated.
A versatile red wine from Crete that you will always want to have on hand. Perfect for a relaxed evening at the table, a good glass with friends or as an accompaniment to a flavourful meal.
In the glass
The wine has a clear, pale ruby colour. On the nose, you will discover lively aromas of cherry, sour cherry, raspberry and red berries. These fruity notes are elegantly complemented by subtle hints of iodine, tea leaves, cinnamon, vanilla and pepper.
On the palate, the wine is juicy and refined, with a medium body, fresh acidity and moderate, beautifully polished tannins. A harmonious red wine with a pleasant freshness and an inviting character.
