Klados Winery

Klados Winery is a family business founded in 1997.

The founder, Manolis Klados, is a qualified chemist and trained master oenologist with 35 years of experience in the industry, who pioneered winemaking in the province of Rethymno.

He has now been succeeded by his son, Stelios, who grew up in the business and graduated in chemistry from the University of Crete (2009). Stelios also holds a Master's degree in Oenology from the University of Piacenza, Italy (2014).

The first winery was set up in a small rented property located on the outskirts of Rethymno town with a production capacity of 20,000 liters per year.

Early activity was primarily Bag-in-Box (wine in special boxes) and the first serious attempt with bottled products began in 2002.

The company grew steadily and when its existing production capacity became too small, it moved to a purpose-built family-owned building in 2007, with a capacity of 100,000 litres/year.

To this day, Klados Winery continues to use this production site in the area of Panormo, 25 km east of the city of Rethymno.

The new winery is equipped with the most modern technologies, both in the production and bottling stages, allowing for larger volumes and the highest quality standards.

The winery is surrounded by a new organic vineyard managed by the estate, planted with the famous white grape variety Vidiano.

Stelios: “We are a boutique winery and strive to make superior quality wines that would intrigue our discerning consumers with their complex aromas, attractive colors and great flavors.

We vinify (the process from grape to bottle) the more well-known local red varieties of Liatiko , Kotsifali and the more well-known Cabernet Sauvignon.

We vinify the beautiful local varieties of white wines Vidiano , Muscat or Spina and the more famous Sauvignon Blanc .”
